Shanghai landscape

Shanghai

Shanghai is situated in the middle of China's east coastline with a total resident population of 16,000,000. Shanghai has always been unique, but now it is more than a mere historical curiosity; it has become a modern metropolis and a global center for business, travel and commerce. And as it has grown into a great Asian industrial and cultural center, ranked with Hong Kong and Singapore, Shanghai has also been able to keep alive much of its historic and cultural past. The city's changing skyline includes massive new development in the Pudong area. Pudong, on the opposite side of the Huangpu River to the famous Bund esplanade, has world-class hotels, exceptional restaurants and hassle-free public transport.

Conference Committee

Our conference committee includes three Past and Present Presidents of AIS. Both Conference Chairs are Fellows of AIS due to their outstanding contributions to the Information Systems discipline. Both Program Chairs have served as Senior Editors of MIS Quarterly and have substantial previous experience with ICIS. Both Doctoral Consortium Chairs have substantial experiences in nurturing PhD students and one of them is responsible for one of the biggest PhD programs in Asia. The Organizing Chair is the Associate Dean of the College of Management, Fudan University in Shanghai, and was also the conference co-chair of PACIS 2004.

Expected Attendance

Our expected attendance for ICIS 2011 in Shanghai ranges from a low of 900 to a high of 1,300, with a best estimate of about 1,100 (300 local and 800 international) participants. These numbers are based on the attendance figures from recent PACIS 2004 meeting in Shanghai (which attracted 350 local and 200 international participants) and ICIS2000 meetings in Australia (which attracted 1050 participants).

Doctoral Consortium

We propose hosting the Doctoral Consortium at Zhengda Development & Training Center at Fudan University.  Fudan University is one of the top five universities in China. The training center is available for this purpose and has the space, amenities and hotel rooms needed for the consortium.
